Hi folks!

I am using java on both a Solaris & Linux

I 've 2 Linux pcs.

-The one at the lab (RH5.2 - jdk116glibc2) , works fine with jdb.

-The home PC [RH5.0 - jdk116glibc2) has problem with jdb :

I get an nvalid password error , while trying to run the jdb!
NOTE that i 've updated the RH5.0 's glibc with the new from RH5.2 as suggested
from the blackdown team.

I don't know why this happens .. Perhaps something else is also needed to be
updated ?

I aslo did an " strace jdb" & found out that it tries to check if one has
permission to run the jdb , by examining /etc/password , /etc/nsswitch.conf etc. This
may also be an extra reason for the jdb failure , since the configuration of these
files may be variant.

The same question exists in this mailling list 2 or 3 times but it seems that it has
never been answeared!
The same holds for others situations , where i happened to see the same unansweared
question.

This is mesterioys! Is there anyone in this world who can find out what is the
solution to the problem ??

I very much apreciate the blackdown guys , but i think that there is really no
support in this field . I think the
Linux spirit of helping each other , has gone away . If you can't answear the
question please show that at least you are interested in finding & solving bugs by
replying to the desperate java-Linux users who need some HELP !!

  Thanks in advance !!
  God bless the penguin!
