I'm trying to set myself straight on some of JDK1.1 and JDK1.2's X-related behavior... could someone check my results? 1) The JDK opens top-level windows with the default visual for the X server, which the user cannot override. 2) The JDK sets placement (X and Y position) on top-level windows, which the user cannot override. 3) The JDK has no option for installing its own colormap. 4) Various failures are occurring with 16-, 24-, and/or 32-bit display depths ("IntegerInterleavedRaster: ... incompatible with ColorModel") that are a) known bugs? b) undiagnosed bugs? c) fixed bugs? d) xfree86 bugs? e) all of the above? Elaborations or corrections would be appreciated!
