Hi all. FYI, I figured out this morning what caused the strange awt crashes on several Linux machines. The problem seems to be related to the color depth the X desktop is running. Obviously, decreasing the color depth from 24 bpp to 32, 16 and 8 helped a lot, while 24 bpp led to the seg faults. I dont know whether this is a bug in the XF86 implementation or the Motif libs the JDK2 is linked with.
