We are trying to install the Java JDK 1.2 (for linux) using the
README.linux.src documentation. We have performed the following steps:
1) Downloaded all the necessary files
2) Prepared the Build environment (using Lesstif instead of Motif ?
(good or bad idea))
3) Got the diffs file. In downloading this file we did not get the gzip
version so we just downloaded it and gziped it ourselves.
4) Got the patch-o-matic file and hacked the script and the top for the
path definitions.
* In running patch-o-matic we received some "hunk failed"
and "hunk ignored" messages??
5) We attempted to do the build.
* We modified TOPDIR and BUILDDIR in GNUmakefile and defined
PLATFORM=linux.
* Then we ran "make build_release" and got the following error:
make: No rule to make target 'build_release'. Stop.
In looking closer at GNUmakefile we were unable to find where variables
such as MAKE, RELEASE, FULL_VERSION, etc. were defined (do we need to
define these?)
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.
