Did you have any NFS drives mounted when you initially tried the
install?  The InstallShield program used by JBuilder gives that
erroneous "Not enough space" error message in that case.  If you unmount
all NFS drives, the install should work (at least, it worked for me).

DDD is not written for any desktop environment or window manager, so you
should be able to run it in any environment without problems.  More to
the point, I have run it in Gnome successfully!  However, keep it mind
that it interacts with jdb, and as Nathan has mentioned on this list
before, jdb can be a bit flaky.
