Hmm.. lets think about this... Invest tons of money developing a new
programming
language. Spend even more on refining the language. Spend a lot more
assuring that
the likes of Microsoft won't "poison" it. Then when Java is finally
showing the
fruits of the labor and most major companies feel comfortable writing
mission critical
applications with it.... lets open source it!
I realize that I go against the grain of most people on this list, but I
would see
that as a foolish move. I believe that there is plenty of room for open
source
software and commercial software.
By the way has anyone paid for a JVM lately? I believe that the source
code is even
available with the download...
Congrats SUN and Blackdown. I am sure a LOT of work went in to this.
