Hello Java-Linux subscribers,

I wanted to let people know about a new Java book that I have co-authored.
It is called "Beginning Java Networking" and is written as a complete
introduction to network programming in Java.

The books assumes a basic knowledge of Java programming but also contains
an introduction to important network programming-related libraries such as
Threading and I/O.

The book covers:

* Networking in JDK 1.3 and 1.4
* Network Basics
* Java I/O, Threads
* Java security model, JCA, JAAS, JCE and JSSE
* TCP, UDP, Multicasting
* Java URL handler architecture
* Serialization, RMI, CORBA

The book has been published by Wrox Press (September 2001) ISBN 1861005601.

More information is available at:

* http://www.wrox.com/Books/Book_Details.asp?section=1_1&isbn=1861005601

* http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1861005601

[ As a long-time list reader/contributor I thought I could be forgiven
  this commercial posting. The relation of the book to Linux is that
  whenever applicable, we have included Linux-specific information
  (e.g. Multicast setup) and tested applications with Linux JDKs ]
