I have already tried the following things to get the JRE plugin to work: Complete reinstall and uninstall. Delete ~/.mozilla. Restart mozilla, close mozilla, and restart mozilla. Check if plugin is installed and it still isn't.
I installed j2re1.3.1 in /usr/local, put /usr/local/j2re1.3.1/bin in the PATH, and created a sym link in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugin/javaplugin_oji.so --> /usr/local/j2re1.3.1/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so. Visit a site with a java applet, and I get a pop-up asking me to install JRE... What am I missing...?
