Good point, the supplemental license terms for JRE are peppered with
sections like the following...

                                        (i) you distribute the
Redistributables complete and unmodified (unless otherwise
specified in the applicable README file), and only bundled
as part of Programs, (ii) you do not distribute additional
software intended to supersede any component(s) of the
Redistributables, (iii) you do not remove or alter any
proprietary legends or notices contained in or on the
    Redistributables

(Hmmm, maybe I violated the licence agreement by quoting that!)

<pedantic_nonsense>
As an aside, I wonder, if one is not permitted to "distribute
additional software intended to supersede any component(s)" then
one would suppose that it is not permitted to derive classes from
any of those in the JRE! (there must be a README in there that
says otherwise).

These legalities aside (I'm not exactly redistributing), I was
aware that there was an rt version of blackdown JRE for version 1.2
that came without internationalization (BTW: Sun provide a Windows
1.3 & 1.4 JRE without internationalization too) -- I guess that
this has been discontinued. Can anyone point me to a 1.3 JRE for
Linux that is more compact (but has swing)?

Regards,

Michael
