This is what I thought. Come on SAP, tweak your copy. What you should say:
"SAP DB does not affect the contractual requirements of regular SAP products." In otherwords, SAP DB IS GPL, and does not require maintenance contracts with SAP, but regular SAP products do. Yet that's not what the copy in their news announcement indicates. So I'll look into SAP DB after all.
