This may be specific to Mandrake, or more likely, my system but:
I'm attempting to play an AU file in an application using the static
method Applet.newAudioClip. The application hangs* after any call to this
method (blackdown 1.4.1 beta, also tried blackdown 1.3.0 and sun 1.3.1).
And, it worked fine some time ago (same hardware, but linux 2.4.7,
blackdown 1.3.0).
* The method returns, but when the end of main is reached, the application
does not return.
Audio works fine in other applications. I suspect that it might be related
to devfsd's loading of kernel modules or permissions on /dev/sound/dsp,
but nothing I've tried has worked.
