It more or less did the trick for me.  The real showstopper was an issue with the 
current Xserver in 0.7.2, so I had to install the old one from 0.7.1.  I have been 
elaborating somewhat on the subject on the familiar mailing list recently (it is not 
necessarily obvious how to actually get it working), but try the Wiki page for 
starters and you are always welcome to write back to me.
  BTW, the Blackdown JRE and the necessary X11 libs etc. are actually available from 
handhelds.org as ipkg packages.  Somewhat easier to manage, IMHO.
