How's 2 minutes sound? I found this on the web but I can't say I know
personally.

      Description:
Some SMTP mail systems can appear to be quite slow, possibly because
they are on slow or congested networks, or because of high CPU load. There
are several options that you can tweak to allow for these slow connections.

The Orquit option applies to the amount of time that the sending
system will wait for an acknowledgment from the receiving system after the
"QUIT" command has been sent. If an acknowledgment timeout occurs, the
connection is dropped and the message is queued for redelivery.

      Values:
     0 seconds - 9999 weeks

      Default:
     2 (minutes)

      Notes:
For more information about the SMTP protocol and commands, refer to
section D.2 Simple Mail Transport Protocol.
