Ok, I did some tests using my own code both with blackdown
1.4.2-rc1-i586 and Sun 1.4.2_04 and it seems like everything does
indeed function correctly despite the kernel messages. sorry for the
confusion. I think the app that I had that was not functioning
correctly was due to other issues (freshly installed on a new machine,
etc..). 

I did really see Sun's 1.5.0-beta1-x86_64 crash, but I will have to
retest with beta2.
