2)Netscape Directory Services: Analysis and Planning 4.x

Abstract

This course provides the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to
design
an enterprise directory service solution. This 3-day course uses a directory
service
design methodology developed by the iPlanet Professional Services
organization. Using case studies and guided exercises students identify design
issues
which are key to implementing a directory service for a wide range of enterprise
environments. The course concludes with a lab in which students test
their design using Netscape Directory Server 4.x.

New and Improved: The following information directly related to Directory Server
4.x
has been added to the course:

A high level introduction to and overview of LDAP
The new administration interface, Netscape Console
Changes to the directory tree for Directory Server 4.x
      Planning indexes
      Planning directory sizing

Classroom Environment

Each classroom has four Sun Workstations or four NT Workstations. Class size is
a
maximum of 12 students.

Students are divided into groups of three with each group assigned to a
workstation.
Students spend most of their time in lectures and group exercises. At the end of
each
day a lab is provided to allow students to test the feasibility of
designs developed during planning exercises in class.

In the first lab, each team installs a Netscape Directory Server, extends the
schema,
and creates an LDIF file. Optionally, students may install an Enterprise Server
and
configure the server to use the Directory Server for its user database.

In the second lab, at the end of day two, each team configures a second instance
of
Directory Server. Students then configure both servers to implement
supplier-initiated
replication.

In the third and final lab, students have an opportunity to install new
instances of
Directory Server to match the directory hierarchy designed by their group.
Depending
upon their designs, they may extend the schema, create an LDIF file, add
SuiteSpot
entries, create ACI statements, and create replication agreements and referrals.

3)iPlanet Netscape Messaging Services: Analysis and Planning 4.15

Abstract

This course provides work sheets, examples, and exercises to teach students how
to plan
a messaging deployment using a defined deployment process. This 3 day course
uses a
design methodology developed by the Sun | Netscape Professional Services
organization.
The course uses Netscape Messaging Server 4.x and Netscape Directory Server
4.x.

This course is 60% Lectures and 40% Labs.

New and Improved

This course has been updated to provide planning information specific to the
Messenger
Express (Web Mail) feature of Messaging Server 4.x. It also includes more
detailed
analysis exercises of diverse messaging environments, a new lab that focuses on
stress
testing and bench marking various messaging components, and is now available on
the NT
platform.

Classroom Environment

Each classroom has a maximum of 12 workstations composed of four pods. Each pod
contains three Sun Workstations. A class size is a maximum of 12 students with 2
or
3 students assigned to each pod.

The purpose of the labs is to acquaint the students with how the Messaging
Server works
and performs in an enterprise environment, touching on those aspects that effect
the
planning of a messaging solution. Each team will create an enterprise level
messaging
environment on their pods. Each team configures their different messaging
servers as
postoffices, messaging hubs, and internet relays, then links their environment
with the
other pods to communicate between enterprises. They then add anti-relay and
message
filters to secure their systems from the other pods, and complete the labs by
generating
large messaging loads and getting benchmarks for the various components of their
systems.
