This problem applies to Forte for Java 4.0 Early Access releases on Windows.
On some systems with Windows (98, ME, maybe more) the installer hangs while
searching for a suitable JDK. It should either find an installed JDK, or at
least prompt for the user to specify a path to the JDK.
First, be sure your JDK is installed in a path without embedded spaces. For
example, install under "C:\Software" , not "C:\Program FIles".
Launch the installer, for example ffj_ce_win32.exe . While it is searching
for a suitable JDK, look for folders named c:\windows\temp\LRE*. You will
probalby find three. Look in them for a large JAR with a name similar to
your installer, for example ffj_ce.jar . It's usually in the second LRE*
folder. Copy the JAR to a safe place, then quit the installer.
Using a normal zip file extractor, extract the file contents of this JAR
file somewhere. In the first folder there should be a file named run.class.
Execute this via the MSDos command "java run". This should launch the
InstallShield wizard. Then you will have a normal installation, with an
opportunity to specify a path to your JDK.

| Instalei em casa a plataforma Java 1.4.0, juntamente com o JRE associado.
