Location St. Louis MO Description for job #5896B The client IT Department develops software supporting our automated infectious disease diagnostic instruments. This background/environment is a plus The successful candidate will work with the development team (3+ developers) to develop new features and to support and maintain existing code base using web-based Java J2EE technologies. At a minimum, they are looking for someone who is capable of working autonomously and with minimal handholding, once he/she understands the architecture and the nature of the work. They put a premium on team interaction and communication, so the person must be a good communicator and a team player. Minimum Requirements * At least 8 years of software development experience and **5 years UNITED STATES development experience** * Minimum 4 years experience using Java and preferably 1 year of C++ experience. * At least 4 years of experience using relational databases such as Oracle / DB2 / SQL Server etc. * Minimum 3 years OO analysis and design experience using Design Patterns and UML. At least 2 years of experience using an OO Modeling tool such as Rational Rose or Together. * At least 4 years experience developing multi-tier and client-server applications. * Past experience with XML Parsing (using DOM or SAX) * 1 year of experience using Hibernate, Spring and JSF * Experience with a software development methodology such as RUP or XP * At least 1 year of experience in the use of JUnit based testing tools. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. * Enthusiastic contributor with a real "go-getter, can-do" attitude who things proactively and delivers high quality software. * Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of the team. * A BS in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
