Location: *Palatine, IL* Duration: *6-9 Months* Client is looking for an Oracle DBA with Banner experience. Banner is a must. * * *Job Title: *Oracle DBA *Job Description: *Looking for an Oracle DBA with *Banner experience* for a 6-9 month contract. Responsible for support of the Banner Student and Financial Aid system environment and related components of the database systems on Linux. Performs all analytical tasks necessary for system support, development, maintenance, and enhancement of existing Banner Student System environment. The Banner Student system environment includes the underlying Oracle database, both the production and all development instances. Also includes the Banner reporting environment, which entails interfacing with all production and development instances of ODS (Operation Data Store and EDW (Enterprise Data Warehouse) and Luminis IV (Sungard’s Student Portal) Patch management, monitoring (OEM, Big Brother, logs, etc.) My Oracle Support. Applies needed Banner Apps and database level patches. RMAN backups and transaction log strategy & management, disaster recovery planning using Oracle’s Data Guard. Performance tuning. Maintains application level capacity planning (i.e. disk, Load factors and storage requirements). Manages migration into production (Change Management) Troubleshoots production problems related to the Banner environment. Performs related technical duties as assigned. Write all necessary system, user and operations documentation. This position requires on-call duties after hours on a regular basis from a problem-solving perspective as well as installing new systems or upgrades during off-hours, so as to minimize the impact on end-users use of their systems. This includes us texting to your personal cell phones by monitoring and alerting systems. Clones instances and codes backups and restores with RMAN. Works closely with the Data Warehousing Analyst (ODS, EDW, Cognos). Be familiar with Banner Pipes, and Job Submission. *Job Req: *Banner 8 Administration experience Two to three years Oracle 10g/11g DBA experience Two Years Oracle Application Server experience, support, maint Two Years Unix / Linux shell scripting or similar (Perl, awk, sed) Three years *Preferred*: Luminis Portal experience (One year) Oracle Weblogic (Application Server) Sungard packages: BDMS, Workflow, CAPP.
