*Location*: Portland, OR *Estimated Duration - * 06/16/2011 - 09/16/2011 (3 months) *Rate* – 75-80/hr *Position : Systems Administrator/ Cognos BI Contractor* * * *Category Description* Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. Advanced Systems Administrator capabilities with 9 or more years of experience*. These consultants are recognized as top professionals in their chosen field. Considered "Guru" subject-matter experts in IT Professional Services. Individuals possess multiple years of operating system experience and are extremely competent in: complicated, specific, and unique software applications and system configuration; will typically hold advanced education degrees or certifications such as, but not limited to, a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA). *These advanced degrees and certifications may substitute for 0-6 years of experience at this skill set level, and for this skill set level only. They have worked on multiple critical projects, have demonstrated the judgment to plan and accomplish goals; performs a variety of complicated tasks, and may lead and direct the work of others. May report directly to Systems Manager, Exeutive Director or Chief Information Officer level management; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. *Experience, expertise and skills: * 1. BS or BA in computer science, business, or equivalent preferred 2. 4+ years experience using Cognos BI suite 3. Demonstrated Cognos technical expertise and experience in the configuration and administration of Cognos 8.4+, preferably on Unix or Lunix platform 4. Demonstrated Cognos technical expertise and experience in the report development using Cognos 8.4+ BI suite to include Query Studio, Report Studio, PowerPlay Transformer, Metrics Studio, Analysis Studio, Event Studio, Data Manager, and Framework Manager 5. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and diagnostic skills 6. Good interpersonal skills 7. Solid Oracle skills and experience to include SQL, PL/SQL, and Oracle database skills, including development of views, tables, stored procedures and techniques for query optimization 8. Strong Unix and/or Linux experience and skills 9. 3+ years experience in relational and dimensional modeling and data mart/data warehouse development, OLAP 10. Current Cognos TM1 9.5+ administration and development is preferred 11. Solid mentoring and training skills are required 12. Capable of documenting user requirements and developing business intelligence specifications 13.
