Job Role: MYSQL DBA
Location: Redwood City, CA Duration: 6 Months + Interview Mode: Telephonic *Description** * Require an experienced DBA to manage the MySQL databases supporting the development, QA, production operations and content operations for a media company. As part of the database team, the successful candidate will employ a strong knowledge in relational databases to the management and optimization of our MySQL database infrastructure. The position includes responsibility for ensuring high availability and performance of the databases 24x7. *Responsibilities* - Installation, configuration, backup, recovery, upgrades, schema changes, SQL execution, and all other tasks related with managing the MySQL DB with an emphasis on uptime, scalability and performance. - Participate in the long term planning and development of tools and scripts for automation - Work closely with development to understand requirements and recommend DB design best practices - Monitor databases for performance bottlenecks and identify solutions for performance tuning and data modeling - Create and manage policies for database change management - Review and optimize database structure and design - Create policies, procedures, standards and documentation of best practices. - Support a 24x7 operation with the ability to work non-standard hours Requirements - 3-5 years of database administration experience in a development/operations capacity. - Strong experience in MySQL database administration - Strong knowledge in database performance strategies and tuning MySQL DB in a Java development environment. - Working knowledge of system structures – TCP/IP, RAID, Volume management, backups - Working knowledge of Linux Operating systems, shell scripting and other languages (PERL, SQL etc.) - Experience with MySQL replication setup and administration - Experience with MySQL cluster /high availability configurations - High volume OLTP and Batch database experience desirable. - Knowledge of MySQL high availability configurations - Exceptional problem solving skills and attention to detail. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Java Tech Group" group.
