Location: Denver, CO Duration: 5 Years Interview Mode: Telephonic Hire DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This position defines, creates and maintains Oracle databases for test and development as well as production environments. Analyzes, tests, and implements physical database design supporting Oracle ERP applications, commercial applications, custom developed applications, and other Oracle databases including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, and operational guidelines. Documents and maintains consistent and current patches across test development and production environments. Ensures data recovery, maintenance, data integrity, and space requirements for physical database are met through formulations and monitoring of policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management. Audits the current environments, provides capacity planning and best practices for the future production/development/test environments, which may include establishing new standards and procedures. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL: Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of client, working effectively in a diverse work environment. Assists in developing system requirements, analyzes transactions and data volumes, and designs & develops complex databases and applications Participates in large-scale development initiatives including product selection and implementation. Researches and recommends optimal design criteria and best utilization of resources. Participates in development of quality entity relationship diagrams, database normalization schemas, logical to physical database mapping, data table parameters, etc. Reviews the physical model created from the logical model, ensuring data structures and databases comply with standards, guidelines, and procedures. Monitors file system space, database allocation, and data integrity, verifies efficient use of disk storage, reclaims dead space, optimizes space allocation and avoids out-of-space conditions. Maintains a backup and recovery strategy for all databases. Performs regular random drills to test disaster recovery scenarios. Provides daily Oracle ERP Applications / Oracle database technical administration and support, including change management requests, monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery. Provides ERP applications / database DBA implementation, support and upgrades Provides performance assessment and tuning as related to the database, and disk subsystem. Implements and supports the use of Oracle Enterprise Manager (Grid Control), Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC), and Oracle Dataguard tools. Provides periodic reviews of database engine performance and monitoring levels and takes appropriate action to rectify problems. Devises solutions to operational challenges of multiple database proliferation Provides technical knowledge working with system administrators, technical managers, developers, and architects. Participates in the evaluation and recommendation of DBA tools and new DBMS technologies. Assists in the definition and development of database documentation and standards. Consults with users to address needs and problems. Analyze business scenarios and recommend technology solutions to clients. Maintains current knowledge of IT database trends and methodologies. Applies, documents and manages software patches. Monitors and maintains system performance. Performs controlled change management in a multiple hardware/software/network environment. Provides direct technical support for the trainers, developers and end-users of the Oracle applications.
