Thanks for the suggestion, Yashwanth.

After a brief look the Axis source code suggests that it has a fairly long
list of dependencies, which, as I understand it, would all have to be
'back-ported' too. I am concerned that the level of complexity involved in
doing this may be quite overwhelming in the end...

Have I perhaps not understood the process correctly?
