Pilot error... I had a cut & paste error and was indexing "C D" as the
document I said I was indexing as "D". Sorry about that.

Your expectations are correct.
This works for me as expected in both current trunk and
official 2.1, returning only {2,4} in both last cases, so
I suspect it is something in your code...
