A taxonomy in general has an arbitrary depth:

Example: Biological taxonomy:

Kingdom Animalia

   Phylum Annelida
Kingdom Fungi
   Phylum Ascomycota
      Class Ascomycetes
         Order Acarosporales
            Family Acarosporaceae
               Genus Acarospora
                  Acarospora admissa
