the underlying point is correct: SSD offer much less re-writes of the
same "sector" than disk based
so, as far as developer machines are involved, you should go for OSes
that use the disk efficiently and basically avoid windows (which I think
is the OS that Jeff Atwood uses): one of my friend W7 keeps on
reading/writing even when there is no application running, ageing the
disk too fast imho
