Here are some problems which I am facing when using JDK1.2 Print API:
1. I am trying to print images of very large size. But it takes a large
amount of time to print. Even for small images (100x100) the time taken to
print is around 1.5 minutes and for large images (700X700), the time taken
is around 18-20 minutes (which is quite huge). It makes the rest of the
application very very slow if the printing is done in a separate thread.
Also in the window of the Printer, the size of the job to be printed is
shown to be of a very large size (around 260 MB), although the size of the
image is not that much (700x700). Does anybody know what the problem is?
2. I try to set the job name using one of the methods (setJobName) in
ProntJob API but it does not show that name while printing the job. It
always shows "Java Printing". Any idea what the problem is?
3. When I change the settings of PrintDialog using the Settings button on
the Print Dialog box, the new settings are not reflected when the document
is printed. But if I use PageDialog to change the settings of the page
format, the new settings are reflected. Does anybody know why the new
settings are not reflected in case of Print Dialog?
