Paul,

Your best bet is to create a Truetype font, which is platform independent i.e
the same binary file can be used on the Mac, Windows or Solaris. The Java
Platform SE version 2 onwards Truetype fonts are fully supported. Truetype fonts
can also work independently on the platforms mentioned above.
