[JAVA2D] How to create a GIF,BMP,PNG,... image from canvas?

Hello,

Is there any easy way to create an image from canvas? I succeed in
creating a JPG image, using the JPEGImageEncoder class, but I'm also
interested in creating other image formats like GIF, PNG, BMP,...
Is it possible?
