I am similarly situated with 1.1.8. My suggestion would be to try to upgrade
to 1.3. I have encountered freeware from universities, such as VisAd from
the University of Wisconsin - http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~billh/visad.html .
Wherever I go, the institutions seem to be moving in lock step with the
revisions and leaving the earlier versions behind.
