The uncommitted codec classes supplied with Java Advanced Imaging
(http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/index.html)
support I/O of BMP, JPEG, PNG, PNM (PBM+PGM+PPM), and TIFF and input of
GIF and FlashPix. Please note however that these classes are not compliant
with the Java Image I/O API which will be available in the Java 2 Platform
Standard Edition version 1.4. Please read the page at

        http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/iio.html

for complete information on these issues.
