Since this is the opposite direction from what I'd have expected from the changes that have been made we'd like to see have a test program to look into it. Assuming you are only printing a small number of pages, then large spool files are almost always due to printing the whole page as a raster. But 1.3.1 actually moved to a 3 byte DIB for printing rasters instead of a 4 byte DIB. Not good enough yet but still the opposite direction from what your experience would assume.
