Hmm, I'll try playing with that setting, but this is happening on a fresh 
install of J6u2 on a stock Windows XP SP2, and it happens using named fonts, 
not just default fonts.  Does Java also include its own Courier New?  That's 
the font I was originally noticing the problem on; I switched to "Monospaced" 
only because I wanted to try (what I assumed was) the same font in both AWT and 
Swing, and I didn't see Courier New (an OpenType font) listed in the AWT demo 
app I was using.

But it happens on Courier New (bold) in Swing.
