Subject: Re: [java3d] Diamond Viper 550 & OpenGL - solved!

I am also having problems with Diamond - they have said that they are about to
release new drivers based on the nVidia Detonation drivers and hope this will
fix
the problem.

Those guys don't seem to talk to one another, I told them I tried the Detonator
drivers. Either that or they just don't believe what they read from customers.
Even though Glenn had worked through this issue with them, I had to start from
square 1.

I know that the nVidia Detonation drivers do not fix the texture problem
with a Diamond Viper 550 running under NT. I am about to check this under
Windows 95.
I have looked into contacting nVidia but they don't seem to have a support site
- this
is from their web page
...

I suggest you reply to Diamond with this quote !!!

I can do that, I have to send it from home where I have the previous
correspondence.

I have asked - and ask again - PLEASE Sun can you help ????

What I think we need is an idea as to which OpenGL calls are causing the
problem.
I do not know OpenGL so I am not able to write a test program.
If Sun or an OpenGL expert could supply some test code, we might be able to
give the TNT Graphics Adapter manufacturers a simple test program, then we might
get a fix.

How about the Glaze benchmark, it seems to test most OpenGL capabilities. I
haven't tried to run it on my TNT since I only found NT versions on the web
site and I'm running Win98 at home.

Also - does anyone have nVidia RIVA TNT drivers pre build 0.36 for AGP Win 95
or NT ?
It would be interesting to know which version introduced the problem.

Not me, sorry.

Later,
-Gary
