Hi,

i downloaded the hardware accelerated X-Server from nvidia's Homepage for TNT and TNT2 chips and i downloaded java3d from www.blackdown.org.  I got the X-server  running and it really works nice, a lot of mesa/OpenGL applications run now really fast, but are still a bit slower then with M$-Software ( nvidia wrote that this beta release is not a full performance version but a developers version) . The  X-Server and the java3d for linux version are beta releases, now i would like to know whether somebody has experience with this combination. Are there some restrictions ? Are there some problems installing java3d on linux ?

i will answer the question on my own. Installing java3d on linux makes

absolutely no problem, i had more problems installing java3d on NT 4.0. But
it cant work together with nvidias GL-Library because the library is missing
'glTexImage3DEXT' which is needed by java3d. This means for TNT and TNT2
chip-owners to wait a bit more to have hardware supported java3d on Linux.
At least there is now a java3d on linux running in software rendering mode.
