Hi!
Well in fact there is a possibility to make your avatar "visible".
You can add a TransformGroup to the ViewerAvatar object that pushes the
avatar in front of the "camera" (e.g. a translation with (0,0,-distance)).
The avatar geometry should then be added below the TransformGroup.
I never tested this but it should work.
