Hi

good idea... i am hunting high and low for at least a good reference on veiwing
platforms.... all the stuff out there just tell u about them , they dont show any
working examples.... now have to crack my poor head to come out with something just so
i can change the viewing without using simpleuniverse....

btw, do u know how i can get the specs on com.sun.util.universe? since i have to use
it, might as well know all the stuff it is able to do with regards to viewing... :-)

Hi,

I have been rather disappointed by the introductory reading matter,
including Plug and Play Java3d which I am afraid contains many what might be
charitably called misprints. However it does give you the first step up the
very steep learning curve and for this reason might be recommended. After
that you have to read the on-line tutorial available from the Sun site
(up-dated version just out). However this too misses important parts like
Viewing platforms and really only deals with SimpleUniverses.

I am minded to write my own book.

Regards

Mike

the best one I have found is the Java 3D tutorial on the Sun site. It is
still just in the online version, but I think they are going to make a
printed version soon. I have also used Ready to Run Java 3D, but I don't
know that I would recommend it... it is more for web programmers who want
to use Java 3D without actually understanding what they are doing - just
changing the inputs to the programs in the book. Hope this helps
Eric
