This is an interesting question. I think I'll have the same problem sooner
or later. Just some issues that came to my mind:
Perhaps there is a possibility to "freeze" those canvases that don't have
the focus.
Canvas3D seems to have a method called stopRenderer(). This should do it (I
have never tried).
The only problem I see is, when you have animation, then I think that you
wouldn't like to stop the renderer.
The renderer seems to be the key anyway, but I'm not an expert.
