Following the numerous [ none :-( ] answers to my call for help, and should
someone ever face the same problem:
PickObject pick methods are still enable to detect the pick of a unique line
segment.
->can be understandable, but a warning in the javadoc would be welcome
What I have done is using a pickshape to get the picked item as per
following segment of code.
Hope it will help people

PickRay pickRay = (PickRay)pickScene.generatePickRay(xpos, ypos);
Point3d pt = new Point3d();
Vector3d v = new Vector3d();
pickRay.get(pt, v);
PickCylinderRay pc = new  PickCylinderRay(pt, v, 0.0008);/*this value define
the radius of you cylinder*/
 resultPath = sceneRoot.pickAllSorted(pc);
