Oh, don't worry. I bet Java3D would fly on the system u have (well,
certainly depends on the applications u gonna write, but if u consider
real-time games, even much less powerful computers (~200MMX, VideoCard
with any accelerator, 4Mb) can run it quite fine, if the program is
written appropriately. The simulator i wrote runs both under NT and 9x
systems OK. And i'd rather say that under the former platform it runs
even faster (because GC works better 4 some reason).
So, don't worry. It is possible even now to write commercial 3D games
on the platform, though certainly it's more risky and takes more time
than usual (because one should dig not only in documented features of
the library, but in the undocumented ones - the bugs - as well)
