I don't think you'll find any built-in physics in Java3D (actually I'm
pretty sure of that). Some guys in this list are working in topics related
to that (like particles). Some URLs I found really useful to start:

Chris Hecker's home page: a bunch of articles and links regarding
physics in virtual environments
- http://www.gamasutra.com/features/index_programming.htm
This is a list of game programming related articles. Often somebody
writes an article about physical simulation
- Also try to search about this in the Siggraph proceedings, they usually
have "serious" stuff about this (and many others) subject.
