Hi, I'm trying to speed up the initialization of my java3d app. I know that a certain level of load time is unavoidable but I'd still like it kept to a minimum (i.e. below 10-15 seconds). My idea is to serialize things like textures (which take about 3 seconds a piece to load) and maybe geometry since there's no point in always recreating something when you can just as easily get it from an object file (without having to new all the intermediate objects necessary for their creation). Am I just off my rocker? If not, any clue as to how I should go about this? I tried to extend a serializable version of Texture but I kept getting class casting errors.
