I only started following this thread recently. Perhaps the question was already answered. In any case... After JavaOne I tried to get the EA version of Webstart to work with Java 3D. It was clear that Webstart couldn't do anything about j3d not being able to reliably install itself, so i just tried to get Webstart to execute a j3d app. After several iterations with the Webstart folks we finally got it to work with a J3D app, but it was ugly. In the bigger picture, it was unclear whether the webstart or the j3d folks were supposed to take the initiative on making the two technologies work together. When I asked what was going on between j3d and Webstart at the Siggraph j3d BOF the answer was that j3d was implenting a superset of webstart (or something to that effect), but specifics were not forthcoming. Perhaps someone from the j3d team could comment on the status on "solving" the j3d installation problem, in general, and the interplay of Webstart and j3d, specifically. --jon > Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 15:03:14 -0500 > From: James Robertson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: Re: WebStart or Netscape6 deployment > > Thanks everyone for information on J3D applets on Netscape6. > It's working for me now.
