You have bad Frame rates in OGL-APP and Java3D-OGL because I assume you don't have any HW-Acceleration in OpenGL. Java3D-OGL is faster than Java3D-D3D for now. I know for sure that i do have hardware acceleration because GeForce Cards don't have HW-A in 16Bpp and in that modus I get really bad result as you do using OpenGL version of Java3D (about 6 FPS). But in 32Bpp like I allready mention I'am getting 210 FPS with the OGL-APP that is HW-Accelerated. I also tested this issue in NT4.0 same result. Thank you still for your quick response.
