hi
everybody,
Java3D
brought together two of my hobbies - computer graphics and astronomy. I
implemented a solar system simulation based on Java3D and lots of
realistic texture maps. The various objects like the sun, planets, moons, and
the International Space Station (VRML-Model) are true scaled in their size and
relative distances. The time scale can be adjusted in the range from
realtime to 1y=1sec from the GUI. The animation's speed -
rotation, orbits - appears proportionate to this time scale. E.g. you
can watch the earth' seasons changing during the year. There are a lot of
further features like view animation, free flight, more then 5'000 stars at
their real coordinates,...
I
think I'll ship a somewhat fat (graphics!) jar around within next 2 month.
Interested ? ... see the attached screen shot!

Betreff: [JAVA3D] Your Java3D ApplicationsEverybody,There must be a fair bit of Java3D development going on out there for this mailing list to be constantly ticking.Thing is, I never see any of you write exactly what it is you are doing. I don't know about anyone else but I would be quite interested to know about what applications were on their way/in development using Java3D.I'll start offPROJECT: Java3D Molecular Visualisation SystemPURPOSE: Renders popular molecular file data formats into 3D interactive representations:STATUS: Version 2 released early 2000.
