As you've been seeing, lots of things are happening over at j3d.org

A couple of weeks ago, Steve Peitrowicz decided that he was getting way
to busy at work to spend any time to help out with j3d.org and so had to
pull out. For this reason, many things have just fallen by the wayside
as I haven't had the time to look after everything and add new features.
Sorry if your requested feature hasn't appeared on the site! (I'm sure
I've still got them all floating around in one of my mail folders here
somewhere....)

Since then, I've been looking around to find some replacements. I'm
happy to announce that both John Wright and Lee Dixon have both taken up
the challenge of helping to maintain the site after only mild prodding
with sharp pointy sticks and large, heavy, blunt objects :)

There are a lot of things happening over the next few months with the
site. I'm mainly going to be involved in adding new features (such as
finishing off that Jobs site I promised before siggraph!) and
maintaining the FAQ. I'm going to be doing quite a bit of travel over
the next couple of months - including relocating from Perth, Australia
to London in the UK - while commuting to Seattle! It's going to be
pretty hectic on my part, so please don't expect lightening quick
responses during the next couple of months from me.

John and Lee are looking after the daily maintenance aspects. As you've
seen in their posts recently, they're putting together a whole bunch of
new pages and content for the site. With the renewed vigor, j3d.org is
really starting to hit some critical mass now. New stuff tends to
attract more new stuff :) If you have any ideas whatsoever, please let
us know. There are a collection of aliases on the site that make sure
the appropriate person(s) is informed. We're endeavouring to add as many
useful things as possible. To do that, I may well seek out one or two
more people to help as well depending on how we cope.

The Sun marketing people are pushing the site in their marketing blurbs,
which is really great news, but we want to get the site to be worthy of
that. That means heaps of new things and a lot more active changes in
the content. Please welcome the guys.

Also, a very early heads up. As part of my relocation, I will be
relocating the server to a different ISP and bigger hardware (hopefully
a 10MB/s link too!). While I wait for the routes to be changed, this may
cause a bit of disruption to both j3d.org and vlc.com.au. Once I know
more details, I'll let the list know what to expect!
