Hi Matt,
Do you use Raster in your application ? There is a bug
bug 4381540 - D3D: Raster & QuadArray line mode may not work properly in
some graphics card
which is fixed in v1.2.1 beta2.
If you are not using Raster, please disable DirectX vertex buffer
using
java -Dj3d.vertexbuffer=false yourapplication
Also, did your application change color attributes/geometry
coorindate every frame ? There is a bug
Fix bug 4375339 - D3D: may crash when changing Geometry with
color attributes
which may cause garble output also. (fixed in v1.2.1 beta2)

It seems that your have this problem before in v1.2 beta also
under win98 but run fine under win2k. Another possibility
is possible bug in driver. Have your try your application
in another graphics card besides Matrox ? Please also
try emulation mode
java -Dj3d.d3ddevice=Emulation yourapplication
to see if the problem still exists.
If the above didn't work, please send us the test application
for debugging.
Thanks.
- Kelvin
