I cannot agree with that. The fact is the transparency features can be
set on/off with
the TransparencyAttributes of an object. This means off maps a null
transparency attrib. and
on a valid transparency attrib.


What I did, to get my jpg images transparent is to set the alpha value
by hand and
in respect to the intensity to shades of grey. Suppose a white
background appearing
fully transparent and a slight variation of a shade appears to be a
little less
transparent but still not fully opaque. This works fine with my images,
where
i exploit antialiasing effects.
