You will need:
BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_READ;
BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_WRITE;
In the case you want to attach childnodes,
you will also need:
BranchGroup.ALLOW_CHILDREN_EXTEND;
