Hi Manuel, I'm a PhD at Strathclyde Uni, Glasgow. We don't have a CAVE but we have a Reality Room with 3 Barco projectors (http://www.vision.strath.ac.uk/vision/faci.html) so probably we might be sharing the same set of problems. We have installed j3d 1.1.3 and SDK v 1.2.2 (for SGI IRIX) on a 12 Processors SGI onyx2 with 2 InfiniteReality and 6Gb Ram and we are trying to develop an immersive virtual environment using j3D. The project it's at the very beginning but if it'll work fine we would like to explore further more the power of j3D in the design process and maybe also with the use of haptic devices. For the time being we have loaded fairly big VRML models of several parts of Glasgow and everything seems to be quite ok except for a strange flicckering when moving the "viewbranch". I have used 3 Screen3D (one for each Canvas3D) and I have add them to the an awt window with a GridLayout. The first 3DScreen is stable the second one is flicckering and the third is flicckering even more. The "flicckering order" changes according to the sequence of addition of the 3DScreens to the window. I wonder if someone out there knows whether I am ignoring something or it's a bug maybe due to the "old" version of the SDK (though SGI has released a Java2 v1.3 beta). Last question: is there anyone out who is actually running a system like ours with Java3D ?
