Yes, you should be. Data rate of 4 points a second is very slow so you
could display it in no time! The real question should be what are you doing
with the points: are you constructing a geometry out of it? Your algorithm
for constructing the geometry "could" (I am not saying it should) be slow
under Java (any comments on that, anyone??). You can certainly remove
dynamically by setting the right capability bits on the node of the Java3D
scene graph.
BTW, using nVIDIA's GeForce2 Ultra on a PC, you should be able to see "(2
billion texels) per second, and 31 million triangles per second", i.e.
Java3D can use hardware acceleration!

Subject: [JAVA3D] is java3d for me
Hi, I am still learning java3d. I am trying to
determine if java3d works for my case.
In my application, I need to display a set of
points, the coordinates of point will be come out from
communication port (which use comm api). The data rate
is about 4 points per second. Is it possible to
display those points in real time.
Secondly, once the data is displayed in Java3d, is
it possible to edit some data, such as delete part of
points.
Thank you very much.
